Advanced Multiscale Materials Modeling (AM³) Lab

About the Lab

The AM3 lab focuses on investigating how materials chemistry, microstructure, and processing collectively and synergistically influence the properties and performance of structural materials under extreme environments (high temperatures, high stress states, irradiation). Our research lies at the intersection of materials science, mechanical engineering, and advanced computing, with broad applicability to the energy, aerospace, and automotive sectors, among others. We develop and leverage cutting-edge multiscale modeling techniques, ranging from atomistics to continuum frameworks, to understand collective defect mechanics, thermodynamics, and kinetics in structural materials. We also develop techniques to closely connect simulations and experiments. Overall, these efforts will guide the design of more reliable, high-performance materials for next generation technologies.
